How it works
- Choose a duration: 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds.
- Press Space to start, then keep pressing as fast as you can. Holding the key down doesn’t count.
- When time is up you see your presses per second and your best. Press Space again for another round.
A speed test for the space bar
The space bar is the biggest key on the keyboard and the one you press most when you type. This counter shows how many times you can press it in a set time: a quick challenge with friends, or a simple way to check that the key works properly.
Tips for a higher score
Use the thumb of your strongest hand, or alternate two fingers. Keep your wrist relaxed and press with small, quick movements instead of hitting the key hard. Keyboards with light switches are usually faster.
Questions and answers
Does holding Space down count?
No. Only real presses count: when a key is held down the computer repeats it automatically, and those repeats are ignored.
Can I use it on a phone?
Yes: tap the box instead of pressing the space bar.
Some presses don’t count: is my space bar broken?
The key may be dirty or worn. Use the keyboard tester to check it, and every other key, one by one.
